How does this make you think about the world and your place in it? How could this impact you?

  1. 1) When i viewed Mr. Fisch's video Did You Know? What striked me was when it said the place with the most babies born were in India and that surprised me, and would have expected the U.s to have the most babies because the amount of people in the countries.

    2) Danny inspired me to be free and made it seem like we could be as fearless as him. It seems as though he had worked so hard because he practiced and worked hard and he proved to me I could be working just as hard as he did to be able to bike like that and it was so amazing.

3)To the value of learning is to have some one teach you and to be focused and to actually be able to think of things after some one teaches it and to respect the fact you know these things that people were teaching to me. And that is what learning means to me. And my role as a leaner is to get great grades and ficus, help, and listen.

  2. 1) While watching Mr.Fisch's "Did You Know" I was flabbergasted at the fact that, if Facebook was a country it woulb be third most popular. Also knowing that thirty-one billion searches are on Google every month. To me the moral of the presentation was that times have changed, and moving on into the twenty-first century we have became more internet dependent.

    2) Danny inspired me to try my hardest all the time, even when things get hard and you feel like giving up. If you give up you may never know what would/could of happened, and to me that sounds like something I would regret. If he can fall off his bike hundres of time then why can't we give everything our all. The video made you kind of wonder, if you can doing anything that fantastic.

    3) The value of learning for every student is priceless. Except for the supplies and school, but the idea of it great. Eventhough most student dislike school with a firey passion, they should be lucky, because not everyone gets the oppurtunity to learn. We take school for granted, pray for a break, and cross dates of our claender like their is no tomorrow, but instead we should make the most of it. Our role as a student is to pay attention, help others, and learn. School opens up so many doors to our future, if we blow off school then we just basically ruined our life. It's not the grades that matters a lot it is the part that stuck with us.

  3. 1) Mr.Fisch's video was really amazing because it gave some facts that I had no idea about and really shocked me. But how it talked about how learning is changing so much and how it will effect the world and its jobs in the future was really amazing. This really will effect our age group because that will be our world once we finish college and go to get a job.

2)His video showed us that with a lot of hard work you can accomplish whatever you want. But you have to work really hard, most of us most likely don't know how much he had to work at that to get to that level. That goes for all of our lives and it says that if you work hard enough you can be the best at whatever you want, sports, jobs, etc.

3)The value of learning is worth more than anything else in the world. How would anything ever get done if no one ever learned anything? Knowledge ( which comes from learning ) is the way to be successful, you can get a better job that pays a lot which makes life a lot easier. My role as a learner is to make a difference in the world once I'm done with college and to make the world a better place.

  4. 1) After viewing Mr. Fisch’s “Did you Know” A couple things In Mr. Fisch’s PowerPoint strikes me. I find it very interesting that China will soon become the number one English-speaking country in the world. I also find it fascinating, that 1 of every 8 couples in the U.S. last year met online. I was shocked to know these two interesting facts. In my head I always thought that the U.S. would be the number one English-speaking country and never thought of China to be number one. I was very shocked, that 1 of every 8 couples have meet online. This just comes to show that the online world is brining us together more and more each year. It’s hard to believe that the Internet is changing us more and more everyday. We are live in a world that changes and we really have no idea of what to expect in the future.

    2) Danny Macaskill's, "Inspired Bikes" was very inspiring. He proved that if you put to your mind into doing something, and have the motivation to pursue your dreams that it is possible to do something incredible. He showed us that if you are fearless and confidant in what you do than you could achieve something truly amazing. If you push yourself and give yourself goals and achievements you will succeed. He showed us that sometimes you will fail, and you just need to get up and to keep trying until you are
    Successful.

    3) The value of learning is to be taught to do new and incredible things. If we never learned new things throughout our lifetime, our lives would be very dull and boring. We need knowledge and background information to live our everyday lives. If we never learned, we would never get anything accomplished. By learning we keep up with our world and what has happened in the past. If we never learned, we would make the same mistakes over and over again and never evolve. Our goals as learners, is to have an open mind and to be willing to learn new information that could help us succeed in the future.

  5. 1) After viewing Mr. Fisch’s video, “Did You Know”, some of the facts shocked me. Knowing that China will soon become the number one English speaking country was unbelievable. Also, learning that India’s children were very well educated surprised me, because when I think of India, I think of a poor country with many homeless and under educated individuals. Seeing that China and India are so ahead of the game education wise, makes me worried about how Americans, and me specifically me will fit into the world. When I will graduate from High school or even college I will think of myself as well educated, but I don’t yet know how that falls into place with other people my age from around the world.

    2) The “Inspired Bikes” presentation made me realize that if you set your mind to something, anything is possible. In order to make things happen, on the other hand, you have to be willing to work for it. Things aren’t always handed to you on a silver platter; they require hard work and dedication. As it also showed in Danny Macaskill’s video, there is sometimes failure. Failure is a part of life, and in order to succeed you have to fail.

    3) Learning as a student, as unappealing as it may seem at times is a wonderful gift. Although it showed in Mr. Fisch’s video that China and India have many well educated children, many other kids around the world aren’t so lucky. Learning is a luxury that many children around the world can’t experience, which makes it so much more rewarding for those who can. As a learner our roles are to have an open mind and embrace new things and experiences. Education is valuable, and everyone should have the opportunity to learn.

  6. 1) After reading Mr. Fisch's "Did you Know" power point I got stroked by a couple of things. I thought it was very cool how China is gong to become the number one speaking country. Another thing that I thought it was interesting was that everything that the teachers are preparing us for our future jobs are the jobs aren't even invented yet. Also another thing was that if you put Facebook as a country it would be the size of Texas. Its going to be difficult and this may affect our lives or it may make our lives better.

    2) Danny Macaskill's video," Inspired Bikes" Was a very inspiring video. I think in his video he was trying to say that no matter how you are or what you do you can achieve what ever you want you just have to try your hardest. This video inspired me to try harder in school And to set goals for want I want to achieve in my life.

    3) The value of learning is something someone should appreciate because their are people around the world that cant afford to get in a school. Learning gets us every were in life. Never making a mistake in life wont get you anywhere because we all learn from mistakes. School is something to be happy for because without learning you wont achieve anything. My role as a learner is to listing and to do the work I was assigned to. Its good to learn different things like different languages and different cultures to help us be better in life as a person in future reference.

  9. 1) When I finished watching Mr.Fisch’s “Did You Know?” video, there were many facts that surprised me. One particular fact was the fact that in 1984 there were only 1,000 internet devices in the world, in 1992 there were 1,000,000, and in 2006 there were 600,000,000 internet devices. I was surprised because in the years 1984 to 2006 and between the amount of internet devices was 600,000 times larger. This fact makes me think about how different the world is going to be in the next generation or even the next ten years. That the world will probably not have paper, writing, people will probably not be reading out of a book, and more of the things that we do now because we are depending on technology and with the intelligence in the world, technology will take over our in some good ways and some bad.

    2) In the video “Inspired bikes”, Danny taught me many things. I learned that you never give up, and try and do whatever you can to achieved your goal. When you finally accomplished it you will think that you can do anything and it will make you more confident in doing other things. I think that it isn’t the fact that you are good at it but the fact that you keep trying and when you don’t make it you learn from the mistakes and fixed it, it will make you that much better. I also learned that you can do it by being determined, and think that you could do it successfully in the end. I can apply what I saw and learned through his adventures by not giving up and do what you can to try to succeed and do your best, if you mess up or fail don’t give up, just keep trying. You only live once so live your life for the good things, to achieve, to inspire, and to believe.

3)The value of learning is incredibly important in life, it is to receive new knowledge, skills, and understanding. If we didn’t, couldn’t, or want to learn the world would probably be way different, with no discipline, understanding, history, or really anything. Life is about learning new things about our world, our universe, ourself, the past, the future, the present, and many more. My role as a learner is to be open minded and learn. To have and get the knowledge to keep up with what is going on and accomplish things from learning. We value or should value learning more because it is the best thing in life to have and appreciate.

  10. After viewing the power point "Did you Know", I was surprised at the facts and how fast the world is developing. The fact that America was behind in the world, and that there were other countries that had higher standards of education. The other people had a stronger will to succeed. These facts make me know that I can go above and beyond the base line of education.
The video "Inspired Bikes" was a great example of hard work and perseverance, and made me relate these characteristics to my life, sports, and academics. This was a great reminder that great things will come with hard work, practice, and perseverance.
The value of learning is that learning only makes you better. Learning is the way that you become successful in life, and can even help you in your social life. My role as a learner is to ask questions and to pay attention to advice, and to apply it to my life.

  11. 1) One fact that stood out to me is that China will soon become the worlds number one english speaking country. This shows how much bigger the population is than where we live in the US. Another fact that caught my attention was that today's learner will have about 10 to 14 jobs by the time they are 38. This shows how fast we are moving in technology and how the economy is changing. In the video it said that 1 out of 8 married couples In the US last year met online. This shows how big the internet has become in our country and how dependent we are on it. When we are adults the technology is going to be advanced and everything is going to be on the internet or have something to do with technology.
    2) The video of Danny Macaskills on his bike was extremely inspiring. The way he did all of the amazing tricks just shows how much work he has put into it and that he had the perseverance to achieve that. He inspired me to work hard at things that I would like to achieve in sports and in academics.
    3) The value of learning is to obtain knowledge that we will use the rest of our lives. It helps in our jobs, everyday lives, and family. Our future depends on what we learn and if we apply it. My role as a learner is to be eager to learn, prepared for class, and engage in the activities.

  12. 1) After viewing Mr. Fisch’s “Did You Know” powerpoint I was struck by the fact that teachers are preparing their students for jobs that haven’t even been invented yet or technology that hasn’t been invented yet. I don’t understand how people know that. Another fact that struck me was that there will be a computer that exceeds the capabilities of a human brain, but what I don’t understand is how could you create something that knows more than you. The fact that if you’re one in a million in China, there are 1,300 people just like you makes me feel very small and unnoticed. I feel like with all these new technologies that will be discovered, people won’t be in control anymore because the technology will take over everything we’d ever have to do. Thinking about how the future will play out, I believe that my generation will be impacted for the better and the worse. We’ll have a better understanding of what’s around us and our past, but I feel as though people will become lazier.

    2) Danny Macaskill’s, “Inspired Bikes” made me realize that I can’t just work on something for a couple days and get it down perfectly, but I need to work on my goals until I feel satisfied which could be weeks or even years. I also thought about the fact that you can always get better at something, you can higher your standards and strive for larger goals. I can apply this in my swimming career. There’s always a faster time to beat, a larger distance, and a record to break. Without perseverance and hard work I won’t achieve my goals or feel satisfied with my work ethic.

    3) The value of learning is the value of life to me. If you don’t learn you can’t exactly live. Take eating for example, if you never knew you were supposed to eat or what you couldn’t exactly live could you? I think my role as a learner is to keep an open mind about everything and take each new topic to a deeper level to truly understand it and giving 100% in everything I do.

  13. 1) After watching the 'Did you know?' video, There were many facts that stood out to me. I found it very informational and fascinating. One fact I found very interesting and almost amazing, was that India has more honor students then the America has kids. This fact really shows how other countries are smart in different areas of study, and possibly a better system of teaching. Also, the video stated that now in present day, we have 5 times the words in English than Shakespeare had in his time. I thought that was very odd, because when studying Shakespeare and his poems and plays he used big words that were more complicated then some of the words now. This video really made me see the world from a different perspective. I understood that the other countries are not all like America, they all have their advantages and disadvantages. The video makes me see my place as a student that is capable of anything because I am receiving the information I need now to be successful in the future. I see that I could help change the world, because of all the new technology and discoveries every day. This could impact me because I might not have a job, there could not be a job since we are learning things for jobs that are not even created yet.

    2) Danny Macaskills's video was very inspiring. He showed me that very hard things can be accomplished if you just keep trying and have determination. Even though it was a sport and we are talking academics, I still think his video shows an example of keeping your head in the game and having confidence in what you do and can do in the future.

    3) I believe the value of learning is to have the knowledge to guide you through your life, job wise and socially as well. It doesn't matter how much you know, but weather or not you have the determination to use it and succeed. I feel that my role as a student is to take in and apply what I learn, and to have a plan for my life.

  15. 1. Mr. Fisch’s “Did You Know” presentation is truly astonishing. While watching it I was very surprised with the statistics that were shown. One specific example was the fact made that “India has more honor students then the U.S has kids”. This goes to show how rapidly India as well as other countries population is rapidly rising. Another fact was said that “The top in demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004” and that “Kids are being prepared for jobs that don’t exist yet”. This statement is a wonderful example on how our technology and resources are vastly changing over the course of a couple years and we are quickly becoming more and more modern. This is indeed very true, it is quite astonishing how fast we are moving and how technology from a couple years ago are considered “outdated”. Every step in the way can change the future that lies ahead.

    2. Danny Macaskill’s, “Inspired Bikes” video is a great example of dedication, determination, and potential. The video which shows footage of him doing complicated tricks with his bicycle, and shows that with hard work comes rewards. It is clearly obvious that Macaskill’s talent did not come over night, but took many years to accomplish. His work is truly amazing and is an inspiration to many, including myself about the importance of hard work and determination. I can apply this lesson to my aspirations in life such as academic and future career goals.

3.The value of learning is too high to put a numerical value on, therefore is priceless. Learning new things can help and change ones life in so many ways. When someone is educated they can always rely on their education to support them and help them succeed. Education is something that can never be taken away from oneself. I myself would like to use my education to become a mature, intelligent individual and be able to use that knowledge to make a difference in the world.

  16. 1) After viewing Mr. Fisch's "Did You Know" power point I was amazed to see all of the fluent facts that put together the presentation. The facts presented strike me in many ways. The facts gave me knowledge about how the world is manufacturing. Also the facts made me feel like everyone is extremely important in life. This impacted me tremendously because now I know the standards of the world and how I want to make an impact on it.

    2) Danny Macaskill's, "Inspired Bikes" showed me great perseverance, hard work, and potential. About a 3 minute video showed me so much potential everyone has in life and how to achieve the highest potential by working as hard as possible. This video defiantly applies to my life by showing me how to achieve any goal. Showing good perseverance, hard work, and potential will make me achieve my goal to succeed in life.

    3) My value of learning is astonishing. I am aware of the fact that education is more important than anything. Therefore, I value learning very high and I am eager to learn. My role as a learner is to end up very successful. To end up successful i will try very hard in everything I do.

  17. 1)After watching Mr. Fisch’s “Did you know?” PowerPoint a couple of things caught my attention. One was the fact that we are learning and preparing ourselves for jobs that don’t even exist yet. I think this is interesting because we all strive to be more than what we are capable of, and we put these ideas into our heads and brainwashing ourselves with things that are not yet evolving. The second thing that I noticed was the U.S. is the third out of India and China to start another generation and or bringing kids into the world. I see this as not having enough people in our generation or generations to come to be good educators and employers. I think this makes me look at the world I am in and I honestly believe that the generations to come are not going to have enough education like we have today. For example educators and teachers are no longer going to have all of their classes work on paper, it is all going to be digital. That scares me being in this world because we need good teachers who are so more than just teachers we need our generations to come to be able to retain and learn new material.

2)Watching “Inspired Bikes” made me look at how I am learning today. I want to be able to learn new material and be excited to do so. I want to do things in class without giving up; I want to be able to try even if I don’t get it, I want do to school work without stopping half way through and blowing it off. I can apply what I saw to my learning and my life by trying new things and taking a risk. A risk I might take is putting myself out there no matter what.

3)I think that the value of learning is to set us up as students and young adults to have a good future meaning to have a good career. You can blow school work, homework off all the time and still learn. Although I do believe that if you do your absolute best in everything that you do in school you will get further and have better opportunities. My role as a learner is to come prepared and come to class ready to learn and get the best education.

  18. 1) When I first saw Mr. Fisch's PowerPoint "Did you know?" I was shocked about some of the facts. For instance how teachers today are teaching their students to survive in careers that don’t even exist today. Something that I also noticed from this video was how China is going to become the number one English speaking country in the world. For most people in China, English is a second language and their second language is better than our first language. That’s a shocking and scary thought for Americans. These two things can impact my future because if I'm learning things in school right now that I won’t use in the future, then how should I prepare myself for the future? Also, if Chinese people can perfect English better than I can, what is to say that a company wouldn't rather hire them over me.
    2) After watching Danny's video it really made me think about getting up when I get knocked down and about doing something that you love. This happened because when Danny was trying to do this one trick he failed at least 3 times but he kept trying the trick until he completed it. The trick was quite dangerous and he could have severely injured himself but he pushed through the fear to accomplish his goal. Second, do something that you love, he took something as simple as riding a bike and has made it into something so much bigger. His video has inspired so many people including my fellow students to believe in something they do.
    3) The value of learning can't even be described. Kids across the world wish they were as fortunate as us to show up to a school five days a week to teachers that believe in us and have the belief that we can achieve whatever we put our minds to. Learning is what gives us our ability. As the years past jobs get more difficult to get, so if we succeed in education it will give us future skills that we need to get our dream jobs. My role as a learner is to show up everyday ready to work, and to be excited for the day. The " ready to work" part means doing everything my teachers tell me, and learning is better if you're enjoying it so I need to find something I enjoy in all my classes.

  19. When we watched Mr. Fisch’s “Did you Know” in class, many things struck me in disbelief. Before watching the power point presentation, I was almost sure China would be “better” than the US academically and technology wise, but what really shocked me was the number of honor students India had. Even the number of children India has, all shocks me. What also surprised me was the thought or idea that by 2049, a $1,000 computer will have the computational capabilities to exceed the human race. Now that worries me just a little bit… As the technology does grow, I think it will benefit for all of us, I just think we shouldn’t let technology do our jobs, or the dirty work of war.

After watching Danny Macaskill's video, "Inspired Bikes". It makes me want to fail as many times as I possibly can in practice, so when the real thing does happen, there will be no errors and I will succeed. It also taught that in the end, if you spend the countless hours working hard to achieve that and that only, you will succeed. Failure is truly the only way to succeed.

Even as a learner, if I put in all my thought, hard work, discipline, and do all I really can do as a learner and a person, then I have already succeeded. Because the value of education is the only way I can start to achieve these high goals. Discipline is another huge factor that is crucial and cannot be forgotten, it is saying no to the temptations that might distract us, or pull us in the direction we don’t want to go. Once we have mastered all of this, we have achieved our goals without error, because we practiced hard, we worked hard, we disciplined ourselves, and we fought for education we wanted to succeed.

  20. The book I read over the summer was Dare To Dream: Life As One Direction By Harper Collins. This book touched me by learning about One Directions lives and there stories. It is all about how they have came from rags to riches. Most people think they did not even work and are extremely untalented, but this book showed how hard they worked and how hard fame is and what it costs. It was also very nice to see a different side of all five boys. The side we know of is famous and silly, but the book shows what their personalities don’t in a two minute video. The book tells us, the whole life story of every one of them and it is enjoyable to read. I am such a huge fan of One Direction so this book lets me know tiny details about them all, which I find entering.
If I had to pick a favorite part of the book, I could not. Every page of it is like Narnia, you do not know what to expect, but you don’t question it because of how interesting it is. Every page is so clever, funny, and different. Maybe I am just such a huge fan, but I would recommend this book to everyone. I not only enjoyed the pictures, but the writing to. It was not too difficult to read, which made it more fun to read. I am such a picky reader also. Reading is not something I enjoy and do in free time, with the exception of this amazing Biography.
